What is Termstar?
From the translator's point of view, TermStar is the tool
for managing electronic dictionaries, and creating personal
terminology archives. TermStar is a very adaptable solution:
it can be used on a standalone computer, on a company database
server, such as Oracle, Sybase or MS-SQL or on a web server.
You can therefore handle anything from a small bilingual
dictionary for one project, to a dictionary holding a million
terms in 25 languages.
For a company or public body, TermStar provides professional
terminology management so that all staff use terminology
consistently in all languages.
Using its associated tool, WebTerm, approved terminology can be published on the Intranet or Internet with access available from anywhere.
Creating and managing dictionaries
TermStar can be used to create, manage and display multi-lingual
electronic dictionaries. A TermStar dictionary, comparable
to a technical dictionary on paper, but with the amazing
benefits provided by an electronic database version.
As you create TermStar dictionaries, you can:
| • |
Recompile multilingual dictionaries, simultaneously, using all the languages compatible with Transit and TermStar . |
| • |
Import the contents of other electronic dictionaries, databases and archives, in various formats. |
| • |
Customise the dictionary to suit your own needs |
| • |
Search, filter and sort the information in the dictionary to suit yourself. |
| • |
Create a list of values associated with the field. The list (by topic for example) can be arranged into 8 levels. |
