What are the advantages of WebTerm?
The data is always up to date and consistent. WebTerm always uses the latest terminological data. WebTerm and TermStar use the same physical database. Data modified in TermStar is immediately available throughout the world via WebTerm. No import and export processes are needed. Users always have access to up to date data, thus guaranteeing the greatest possible consistency for the minimum effort.
Easy integration into additional applications. WebTerm allows other functions in addition to data display. In addition to displaying terminology in the browser, WebTerm allows integration and exchange of data in XML. The database can thus be integrated into other applications, so that the content management systems, for example, can have access to the same terminology from anywhere in the world.
Platform independent. Using standard formats, such as HTML/XML, Java and JDBC servlets, WebTerm lets you design your system to suit yourself. There is no need to use specific databases or web servers.
Geographical independence. WebTerm is an interface for TermStar. By accepting XML, WebTerm is the platform-independent interface for exchanging data with TermStar anywhere in the world. The location of the terminology manager is completely independent of the location of the server.
How does WebTerm work?
WebTerm's configuration is based on the database server
on which the TermStar database is installed. Users see the
database via their browsers, and it is maintained using
XML and TermStar archives.
Terminology can be managed directly from the server, or from a remote computer.Users can see the WebTerm database from any browser, via the Internet or your intranet.
