Alignment is a fast, computer-aided process allowing previous translation projects to be used as reference material (translation memory) even though they were not done using Transit.
This special, fully integrated tool, lets you convert all your original documents and their translations into the Transit format.
Alignment is also used to save earlier translations, and update the translation memory after post-production revisions in which significant changes were made.
Step by step

First, import the original documents and their translations into Transit. |

The alignment tool compares the document segment by segment and checks whether the segmentation of the source text matches that of the target text. |

Transit directs you to correct segments that are not equivalent. Suggestions are shown on screen. |
You can adapt to different parameters,
during this process, such as:

The option of joining or splitting segments. |

Whether or not Transit should join segments automatically. |
This process results in bilingual pairs, that can be used as material for Transit's translation memory.
