In this tooltip we will see how to use the Dual Concordance search feature offered by Transit NXT. This feature is extremely useful for translators as it provides a wide variety of options to search for a specific term or a phrase in the reference material or in the file currently being translated. As the name 'dual' suggests, you can search for both source and target language term/phrase. You can also personalize the dual concordance search settings. We shall see how to do this later in this tooltip. Let's now explore the different options for performing a concordance search.

Concordance search can be called up in two ways:

• Via the context menu from the language pair.

Select the term/phrase in the source and/or target language, right click on the selection and select Dual Concordance from the context menu as shown in the figure below:

• Via the ribbon bar, under Matches | Dual Concordance | Search as shown in the figure below:

Transit NXT displays the Dual Concordance window as shown in the figure below:

You can specify a variety of settings in the Dual Concordance window. Specify the percentage of similarity in Minimum quality. This is only relevant for word searches since Transit NXT only searches for 100% matches for a search string. Select the Phrase search option to search for 100% match for the entered search string. Select the Morpho search option to include all possible inflections of the search term. Select the Match case option if you want Transit NXT to take the case into account while searching. You can specify more settings by clicking on the Options button which opens the Dual Concordance user preferences window as shown in the screenshot below:

Here you can specify if you want Transit NXT to search in the reference material and/or in the working folder, i.e., in the file currently being translated. You can also select the minimum segment status. This means that Transit NXT will take into account only those segments which have the selected status or a status higher than that. There are several other options here that are self-explanatory. Last but not the least, Transit NXT offers you several options via the context menu to work with the result of the dual concordance search as shown in the figure below:

With the Copy segment option, you can copy the segment to your clipboard. The Accept modified translation option inserts the marked segment directly into the Transit editor. The Open reference file option opens the reference file in which the marked segment appears. This means that apart from searching for a term/phrase, you can also open the file that contains the term in order to see the context in which it appears. With the Display options, you can select different display options for the marked segment. The Rapid entry option allows you to enter the marked term or phrase into one of your project dictionaries. You can also save these settings by clicking on the Save results button. If you require to perform concordance search frequently, you can fix this window in the Transit editor. To do so, click on the title bar of the window and start dragging it to the desired position. Then, drag the window to one of the positions indicated by the arrows and blue shading.
