What are translation variants and how to deal with them

Translation variants are equal to segment content that has been translated differently – usually not desirable, but sometimes necessary. Therefore, it is part of quality assurance to find, evaluate, and – if necessary – standardize translation variants.

With Transit Service Pack 9, you can easily analyze translation variants. Using the clear variants display in the file navigation, you can easily correct the corresponding segments in the Transit editor. Further advantages: With the source variants report, you can give authors valuable feedback as support for consistent source documents.

During this Webinar, you will learn how to handle translation variants in Transit and how you can use them to provide better quality.

Agenda

As a brief introduction, we will show you examples of when translation and source variants are desired—and when they are not.

Then, we will demonstrate how you generate variant reports with Transit and how to use the results in the file navigation. By way of example, we will edit some translation variants directly in the Transit editor.

Finally, we will present the optional quality report. As an example, we will show you how to generate an HTML document with an overview of the source variants—as feedback to your client.
