Short cuts – Nº 12 : New options for organizing reference material

Service pack 7 brings along with it a very useful and practical option for organizing reference material. Project managers can now benefit from this option by specifying how the language pairs should be copied to the selected reference folder from Transit itself. Let's see how this works.

Service pack 7 brings along with it a very useful and practical option for organizing reference material. Project managers can now benefit from this option by specifying how the language pairs should be copied to the selected reference folder from Transit itself. Let's see how this works.

Open the desired project and select Reference Material | Copy current project to reference folder from the resource bar as shown in the following figure:

Transit NXT displays the Destination folder for reference material window as shown below:

Select the folder in which you would like to store the language pairs of the current project as reference material. Select the Copy unchanged option to copy the language pairs with the same name into the destination folder. By selecting the Add file-name prefix option, you can prefix a name to the language pair, for example you might want to add the name of the project to the language pair. The third option Copy to <project name> subfolder creates a subfolder with the same name as that of the project within the selected folder and stores the language pair within this newly created folder.

Mark the Use as default option in order to make these as default settings for storing reference material for all projects. If the current project has the Customer scope, this option will appear as Use as default for customer and you can mark this option as default for all projects with the same customer.

If your language pairs have the same name as the ones previously stored in the selected folder, you will be prompted to either replace them or rename them as appropriate.

Therefore, you as a project manager do not have to worry about manually copying the language pairs to a particular folder to be later added as reference material. Transit NXT Service Pack 7 provides you with options for automating this and therefore flawlessly and efficiently organizing your reference material.

Please do not hesitate to leave your comments or ask for specific short cuts. Stay tuned for more interesting features brought in by the brand new Service Pack 7.
