Short cuts – Nº 14 : Generating statistics for multilingual projects
Generating statistics for multilingual projects is a tiresome exercise if you have to generate them for each language separately. Just imagine the time you can save if you generate the statistics for a project with 20 target languages all in one go. With Transit NXT SP7, you can now save the statistics for all target languages of a multilingual project in one single file or separate files in Excel, HTML or other formats provided by Transit NXT.
Let's see how to do this. After you create your multilingual project and import the files for all target languages, generate the statistics (Statistics | Language pairs | Project) as seen in the figure below:
Select the appropriate options in the Transit report manager window and click on the Update button to generate the statistics. Now click on the Save button to save the generated statistics. The Save statistics as window will be displayed as shown in the following figure. Select the format in which you wish to save the statistics (.xls, .html, .xml, .csv) and click on the Save button to bring up the Statistics for multilingual project window.
Select the required option from the Statistics for multilingual project window (all three options are self-explanatory) and click on OK. The statistics for all the target languages will be stored in the project working folder. Note: If you save your statistics in .xls format, make sure you open the .xls file with Microsoft Office 2007 or higher versions. Therefore, project managers will no longer have to worry about generating statistics individually for all the target languages of the multilingual project. I hope you find this practical feature provided by Transit NXT SP7 useful. Do not hesitate to leave your comments or ask for specific short cuts. Stay tuned for more new features of SP7. See you next week!
