Short cuts – Nº 2: Speed up your translation in the Transit NXT editor
We are back again with another interesting and useful mini-post! We shall see a quick tip to save time while translating in the Transit NXT translation editor.
When you open a language pair for translation, you see the source language copied into the target language segment. This is done by default. You place the cursor in the beginning of the target language segment, enter your translation and then delete the old text (source language text). This is not difficult but just imagine how much time you could save if this was done automatically. Transit NXT offers an option for automatically deleting the old text in the Processing |Confirm context menu as shown in the figure below:
When you mark the “Delete to end of segment” option, the source language text in the target segment is red-underlined. After you enter the translation in the target segment and confirm the translation (ALT+INS), Transit NXT will automatically delete this red-underlined text without you having to do this manually. So this saves you from manually selecting the old text in the target segment and deleting it. Likewise, you can also select the "Empty next segment" option if you wish to automatically empty the next segment upon confirming the translation for the current segment. Thank you for reading. We hope this was useful! Do not hesitate to send in your comments or ask us for new tooltips.
