Short cuts – Nº 22: New languages supported by Transit NXT SP8
With the new languages and language variants introduced by Service Pack 8, Transit NXT now supports a total of 202 languages.
As mentioned in our previous posts, the new Service Pack (SP8) of Transit NXT is full of exciting features that will provide you with more functions and efficiency during the translation or project management process.
The new Service Pack comes with 8 additional languages that Transit can now process. Transit already supports over 200 languages to cover all target markets relevant to your translations. The new languages in Transit are also supported by TermStar NXT, which means that you can create and manage databases and dictionaries in these languages.
The new languages are as follows (including the three-letter identifier code used by Transit):
- Armenian - (HYE)
- Burmese - (MYA)
- Lao - (LAO)
- Filipino - (FIL)
- Additional language variants for Bosnian
- Bosnian (Cyrillic, Bosnia and Herzegovina) - (BOC)
- Bosnian (Latin, Bosnia and Herzegovina) - (BOS)
- Additional language variants specifically for Serbian
- Serbian (Cyrillic, Montenegro) - (SCM)
- Serbian (Latin, Montenegro) - (SRM)
- Additional language variant “German (plain language)” - (DE1) - this meets the standards of the accessibility statement.
As you already know, you can add new languages from the Language window while creating a project, as shown in the following image:
How to select a source or target language during project creation
For multilingual projects, you can add a new language at any stage, either when creating a project or during the translation process (from the Languages tab of the Project settings window).
As some of these are non-Latin languages, you may want to take a look at our blog post related to this: View fonts for non-Latin languages in Transit NXT
So, what are you waiting for? Get going with the additional features and improvements provided by SP8 and translate more and more languages efficiently and effectively.
